finding this jewel was like discovering a secret... a secret told with soft airy breath... a whisper -- SUSSURRO. sustainable in design, combining luxury and minimalism, please join us as we travel to this secluded beach resort, reachable only at low tide

founded by Zimbabwean born, Sarah Birkett and Adam Humphreys, after returning from travel abroad, meeting each other, and falling in love -- SUSSURRO was created to be the home that combined their respective backgrounds in both hospitality and wildlife conservation (Adam) and African material culture and design (Sarah)

this community built and serviced resort is 90% powered by renewable energy, and is 100% African sourced and made. they use zero single use plastics, and is "organic wherever possible including residence guest consumables"

each of the six 1000sf bungalows features indoor and outdoor bathing areas, and each is appointed with locally designed and crafted furniture, textiles, and design pieces

the grounds offer places to gather and restore -- a library, a gallery space, lap pool and yoga deck, guest bar, and restaurant

the hotel's restaurant features an ocean-to-fork menu complemented with locally grown produce. the open-plan kitchen removes the divide between host and guest, and allows them to experience the East African lifestyle and food ideology

SUSSURRO's sustainability efforts are further emphasized through their regenerative mangrove reforestation plan, that aims to re-afforest the Nhamabwe salt pan by 2022

yoga, paddle-boarding, snorkeling, diving, and weaving workshops are available on-site. two to four day excursions to the Gorongosa and Zinave national parks or dhow safaris through the small fishing villages can also be arranged
